The idea of establishing faculty in Čačak was realized in 1975 with the start of a new academic year at Pedagogical and Technical Faculty. The Faculty was founded with the aim of educating and producing teachers in the fields of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering and Technical Education. A year upon its foundation, the Pedagogical and Technical Faculty became one of the founders of University in Kragujevac which started working on 21st May, 1976.
The successful development of the Faculty in Čačak resulted in the introduction of engineering studies in the fields of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering in 1982, and graduate studies in Electrical Engineering in 1985. Considering the changes that appeared in educational, research and scientific areas, the title of the Faculty was altered into Technical Faculty in 1985.
Rapid technological development and wide application of computers brought about the introduction of a new study programme in 1998 – Computing Engineering. At the same time, the study programme – Industrial Management was introduced in the curriculum of the Faculty. The new changes occured in 2005-2006 due to the application of Bologna process in the higher education in Serbia. The adaptation to the new rules of studying was carried out during the accreditation processes in 2008 and 2013. Simultaneously, the adjustments to the standards in scientific-research field were carried out through the accreditation in 2007, 2011 and 2015. The transformations that the Faculty underwent at the beginning of a new millenium have resulted in another change in the Faculty's title, now being Faculty of Technical Sciences.
